The Institute for Christian Living at Morning Star (ICL) seeks earnestly, intelligently and prophetically to under gird the walk of faith with the quest for understanding through the best current biblical and theological scholarship. To that end, the Institute for Christian Living aims to create and mature discerning disciples in every aspect of life.

Classes start Wednesday, September 17 2008.  Classes start at 6:00 p.m.  Edification Service starts at 7:00 p.m.

 


Course Title: Fundamentals I: “Observation"

Course Description: In this course, students will exercise their power of observation as they read. Readers will learn to look for specific markers as they are reading the various texts of the Bible. Further, in this course one learns to suspend interpretation and the quest for meaning, while placing more emphasis on hearing from God and observing the Word more closely. Readers will come to understand that observation truly constitutes next steps for in depth and life changing Bible study.

Course Title: Fundamentals II: “Interpretation"

Course Description: This course is a continuation of the “Observation” module. Readers will learn to interpret passages in the context of the times in which those passages were birthed. We will take a look at customs, nationalities, geography, language, etc. to help us understand as best one can in their original settings. The prerequisite class for this course is Fundamentals: “Observation” but not necessary. For book requirements see Fundamentals I.
